With the rapid advancements in mining technology, cone crushers have evolved into several types to meet diverse operational needs. These include:

A cone crusher operates similarly to a gyratory crusher but features a less steep crushing chamber and a more pronounced parallel zone between crushing zones. The crushing process involves squeezing the rock between an eccentrically gyrating spindle, covered by a wear-resistant mantle, and the enclosing concave hopper, which is lined with manganese or a bowl liner. As rock enters the top of the cone crusher, it becomes wedged and compressed between the mantle and the bowl liner or concave. Large ore pieces are initially broken and then descend to a lower position where they are further crushed. This cycle continues until the particles are small enough to pass through the narrow opening at the crusher's bottom.
Cone crushers are particularly suitable for crushing mid-hard and above mid-hard ores and rocks. They offer several advantages, including:

The spring release system in cone crushers provides overload protection, allowing tramp materials to pass through the crushing chamber without causing damage to the crusher.
